From Pakistan to UAE: My Journey & Real Job-Hunting Tips That Work!

Hello readers!

If you’re someone planning to come to the UAE (especially Dubai) for job hunting, this blog is for you. I recently came from Pakistan to the UAE on a visit visa, and I want to share my experience and some practical tips that helped me find a job faster. Let’s get started:

1. ✈️ Arrival in UAE – SIM Card is Free!

When I landed at the airport, the first thing I noticed was the free SIM card counter. Yes, you can get a temporary free SIM with some basic calling and data – just bring your passport. This helped me stay connected from day one.

2. 📱 Set Up WhatsApp & Register on Job Portals

Right after getting my SIM, I set up WhatsApp with my UAE number and created profiles on job websites like:

  • Dubizzle
  • Indeed.ae
  • GulfTalent
  • Bayt
These platforms are essential. Upload your CV and set up alerts.

3. 📄 Create a Professional UAE-Style CV

Don’t send a casual or outdated CV. I created a professional and well-structured CV tailored to UAE standards. Make sure to include:

  • Professional photo
  • UAE contact number
  • Career objective
  • Skills and experience in bullet points
If needed, use Canva or ChatGPT to improve your CV formatting and content.

4. 🔍 Do Company Background Checks Before Applying

Here’s a smart tip: Before applying, search the company name on Google Maps and Google Business. You can:

  • Read reviews
  • Check location
  • Find WhatsApp or mobile numbers
  • Contact them directly and ask if the vacancy is still open

Why? Because many listings are outdated, and you’ll save time by confirming availability first.

5. 👥 Too Many Job Seekers – Stand Out!

There are many people job-hunting in UAE on visit visas. That’s why direct contact, follow-ups, and showing up on time for interviews really matter.

6. 🛡️ Know Your Rights – Apply for Job Loss Insurance

Once you get a job and your visa is processed, register for UAE Job Loss Insurance. It’s a small monthly payment, but it helps you get support if your employer cancels your visa without notice. Very helpful!

7. 🛴 Get an E-Scooter & License

In cities like Dubai, transport is key. I got a basic e-scooter and applied for an e-scooter license (online, easy and free). It helped me travel cheaply to interviews and work.

8. 💡 Bonus Tip: Use ChatGPT for Smarter Job Searching

I used ChatGPT to improve my CV, write cover letters, prepare interview answers, and even plan this blog! It’s a helpful tool for job seekers – give it a try.

🎯 Final Advice:

  • Be consistent and follow up
  • Stay legal, don’t overstay visa
  • Don’t lose hope – jobs are here, just keep trying smartly
